Band Profiles
Grand Hotel Stage
Sally Carter has an exciting combination of guitar, fiddle and hurdy-gurdy with soaring vocal melodies. Sally’s homespun songs and tunes take you on a journey through the ages – from upbeat celtic/medieval hurdy-gurdy to song-stories with guitar and beautiful vocals, culminating in some wild stomping hot-pink fiddle playing. Sally’s style is an intricate mix of Celtic, medieval, folk and contemporary. Her songs include the telling of homesickness for Oz, growing up in NZ, driving to Tamworth in 42C heat with no air-con, and talking to homeless people, and many more things of life….
This truly unique Kimberley singer-songwriter is now living and breathing music on the Peninsula. She has elements of jazz, folk and pop in her songs, but they are merely signposts on a tour into a special musical territory she defines as she goes. From the bluesy “Baby All The Time” and “For The Sake Of It”, to the vocally dynamic “The Mourning”, to the gentle whisper of “When it Rains” Tash weaves her thoughtful lyrics through unexpected melodic progressions that captivate on first listen.
Aaron Roberts Trio
Singer/Songwriter Aaron Roberts performs the styles of soul, gospel & R&B in his selective live shows around the peninsula. After completing his first independent release (“Fickle Thing”) Aaron made his Festival debut at “The Thin Green Line Music Festival @ COOLART February 2009. The album was then officially released April 2009 @ “Baha” in Rye.
Aaron has collaborated with local artists in the recording of “Fickle Thing”; Singer/Songwriter Marty Williams and Instrumentalists Chris Haylock(drums), Peter Kaighin (flute/sax) and Andy Phillips (guitar). Through his soulful vocal and piano each song is a deep and personal exploration of life’s lessons learned. Aaron’s compositions reveal a pure and honest sentiment from his personal experience.
